いまぼくらは、限りなく選択肢の多い時代を生きている。読者が摂取できる情報の選択肢も増えている。けれども、社会が複雑になればなるほど、キュレーターやガイドの必要性は大きくなると見ている。そういう意味では「雑誌」の役割は変わらないと思うし、編集者の役割は、むしろますます大きくなってくると思う。雑誌をクラウドソーシングでつくるなんていう話はナンセンスだとぼくは思っている。だって、アナ・ウィンターが編集長でない『VOGUE』や、デイヴィッド・レムニックが編集長でない『THE NEW YORKER』を、ぼくは読みたいとは思わないよ。
